Call Report Details

Reports from callers indicate that calls from (646) 918-8118 originate from an illegitimate source attempting to extort personal, sensitive information from responders. From loan collections (specifically "bad pay day loans") to grievances, reports reveal a varied attempt at gaining access to people's information.

Reports of threats including arrest warrants, imprisonment, and more. Callers report that they pose as the United States Legal Department or the ACC and often try to make threats sound more legitimate by referencing their own law firm, and threatening individuals with lawsuits. We've received additional reports that the callers are not only rude, offensive, and threatening, but that they speak with an accent (Indian accent) and have a poor grasp of the English language. Finally, based on reports that employers have been getting calls regarding the respondents, it appears that in many cases they have access to individual's employer's phone numbers as well.

  • "This caller is foreign, abusive, loud, rude, and calls every day. Their accusation is that they are collecting money due them because a grievance has been filed against my social security number."
  • "They claimed to be from the United States Legal Dept and said my Social Security number had been blocked by the U.S. Government. They asked me to verify the last 4 digits of my social."
  • "Was told I would be sued, and that there's absolutely nothing I can do to block the lawsuit but cooperate with them."
  • "Was told by Officer Smith (posing as a police officer) that I owed money on a pay day loan from Cash Net USA and if I didn't pay right away I would be arrested within the hour."
